Savannah Wilkinson Settling into Life at Florida State

Savannah Wilkinson is taking the transition from London to Florida in her stride as she adapts to life at Florida State University.

The 1998-born guard spoke to the school’s magazine about settling in and her expectations of the season.

“I always thought if I go to America, if I get a scholarship, I want to go to Florida.

“Florida State came up last minute and I felt like it was a sign – when I came on my visit, it felt like home.

“I think [the transition] has been quite smooth.”

She added on the style of play: “I’m quite nervous – just because it’s a completely new way of playing basketball.

“You have to adapt to a whole new environment.

“I’m excited about the season, learning and moving forward with the team.”

The Seminoles have started 2-0 on the season with Wilkinson netting seven points on 3-of-4 shooting in a recent 75-51 victory over Jacksonville State.

And, Sue Semrau – Head Coach at FSU since 1997 – has high hopes for the GB Senior international.

“She has great ability – she has great size, can handle the ball, shoot the ball, pass the ball – just has to learn to play at a higher temp and a little more physicality.

“She’s going to be a special player.”
