Janice Monakana Joins WBBL Champions Out of Toledo

Janice Monaka has signed for the defending WBBL league champions, Nottingham Wildcats, ahead of the 2017-18 season.

The 22-year-old joins off the back of a four-year college career at the University of Toledo, producing 1172 points and 707 rebounds.

Monakana was the captain in her senior year, earning a spot on the All-MAC Second Team with her side winning the Conference Championship – with compatriot Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott also on the roster.

The 6’0″ forward scored a career-high 29 points against Buffalo in February and went on to make her GB Senior debut earlier this summer with a best of 16 points against tournament hosts, Belarus.

The Wildcats have also re-signed Hannah Shaw for another season with the towering centre having played alongside new team-mate Monakana for GB back in May.

Nottingham have won the league title for the last two years in the WBBL, but have ended their seasons with defeat in the playoffs final.
