Essex Rebels have added GB junior guard Jade Mbam to their 2021-22 roster as they continue to strengthen ahead of the new season.

Mbam returned to Manchester Met Mystics for the back end of last season having started the season at Angelo State, and will now continue her education in Essex.

The 19-year-old becomes the latest new arrival for the Rebels alongside fellow British guard Tia Freeman, while Ashleigh Munns, Angel Waithe, Andrea Kohlhaas and Olivia Partridge have all re-signed.

“I am really looking forward to working with Jade over the next three years whilst she studies for her undergraduate degree at the University of Essex,” said Tom Sadler, Head of Basketball Performance at Essex.

“She is one of the country’s most talented juniors and we are really excited in helping her continue to develop in the Rebels programme.”

Mbam represented GB at both Under-16 and Under-18 level and also played in the first-ever Under-19 Women’s game at the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic in 2019.
