GB Under-18s Women Crush Moldova for 2-0 Start

Great Britain Under-18s dominated from start to finish as they defeated Moldova 148-28 at the European Championships in Dublin, Ireland.

Vanessa Ellis’ side improve to 2-0 following yesterday’s win over Ukraine and boost their hopes of making the last eight.

All 12 players got onto the scoresheet with eight reaching double figures, led by Scottish duo Alix Henderson and Megan Jones, who combined for 45 points.

Maya Price added a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds along with seven assists, while Dani Lozzi grabbed eight steals for the second game running.

GB set the tone with a 9-0 start inside two minutes with Lozzi grabbing four steals and their advantage grew to 17-0 out of a timeout from their opponents.

Moldova broke their drought from the line with their four first-quarter points all free throws as they were kept to 0-5 FG shooting as GB stormed into a 36-4 advantage.

GB continued to power clear in the second with a 17-0 run pushing the lead past 50 points before Ellmore became the first player into double figures with the gap 70-12 at the half.

Emily Stradling netted her second triple early in the third as part of a 10-2 run and GB soon passed the century mark through Henderson’s basket to make it 101-19.

GB refused to take their foot off the gas and finished the game with another dominant 10 minutes in which they conceded just four points and poured in 39 with minutes and points spread throughout the roster.
